Considering the significance of Fridays in the cyclical pattern of a week, I decided to move my happiness list feature to hump day. If every Sunday is a “little Easter,” remembering and enacting Jesus’ resurrection, then I believe that every Friday should, in some sense, be a “little Good Friday.” Many Roman Catholics live this way by eating only fish as meat on Fridays throughout the year, and in a particularly Good Friday phase of life at the moment, I’m interested to contemplate and live into the opportunity my Mother Church gives me to practice lament and death each week (even in Easter, as Dr. Radner explores here). So, without further ado, I present to you, Hump Day Happiness List numero uno:
1. Sufjan Stevens’ latest album, Carrie & Lowell, has been on repeat this week.
2. the company of good, good friends; one even calls him Brother.
3. azaleas (top). ’nuff said.
